Hangzhou Tourism Mode
The video briefly introduces the reason to success of Hangzhou, being free. But what things are actually free in Hangzhou? I listed several below.
- Free Tickets. More than 70% of travel attractions in Hangzhou charge no money, including the West Lake.
- The downtown area, and scenic spots of Hangzhou provides free WiFi services. There are more than 2000 free hot spots all over the city.
- Free transportation. You can make use of public bicycles for free within first one hour. Since there are more than 1000 spots all over the city, you can avoid paying fees by transfer to a new one within one hour.
- Free dining. During festival periods, Hangzhou provide free dining in scenic spots, such as iced tea, porridge, and bread.
- Rent stores around the scenic spots to the public. It is the main way to make up for the loss of tickets.
- With free services, tourists are more willing to stay in Hangzhou for a longer time, which means that they will make consumption on dinning, accommodation, and shopping. It is much more than ticketing fees.
My Reflection
You can easily get to the conclusion that being free sometimes means making more money in tourism industry. It is true that not all the tourism city can do the same as Hangzhou. Hangzhou do have somethings in special. Many scenic spots in Hangzhou is located in downtown, which means it is hard to separate them from the city. What is more, they also required less capital on conservation. But I still think we can learn something from Hangzhou.
- Doing not make the tickets your only way to make money. It is dangerous to only depend on tickets. You will be easily influenced by the fall of visitors. What is more, high prices will surely lower the satisfaction of tourists.
- Consider for your visitors. They travel all the way to the destination. May it is the only time they can get lose to your place, which means it will form the final impression on them. So doing perfect at all the time is the only way out.
